A HEART of Worcestershire College student is celebrating after being announced as one of the nominees for this year’s Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards.

Daniel Hopkins, who is currently undertaking an apprenticeship as a warehouse and operations supervisor at Worcester's Green Lighting Limited, has been nominated for the Intermediate Level Apprentice of the Year award.

He began his apprenticeship with the company in July 2014 with the desire to gain a qualification outside of the classroom setting. Daniel has since developed within the company taking on the position of a supervisor when his predecessor left.

"This apprenticeship has been a great opportunity for me to work towards a recognised qualification whilst gaining invaluable skills in the workplace.

"I’m really enjoying working with the added benefit of learning along the way.

“The company and the college have been really supportive and are always on hand to help with any problems, answer any questions and help me to establish where I want to head with my career once I have completed my apprenticeship." Daniel said.

The award ceremony goes ahead on Thursday, November 12 at West Midlands Safari Park.
