HEART of Worcestershire College students celebrated the end of their work experience with a donation to a Redditch charity which tackles homelessness.

To raise the money, they sold shares and opened their Horizons One Stop Shop, which sold sweets, stationery, Christmas gifts, held plant sales and baked cakes to order.

The business was wound up this week with shareholders receiving dividends that were double the initial share investment.

A total of £384.16 was raised by the students' business venture which was spent on white goods and cleaning products as well as a £60 cash donation to Redditch Nightstop.

Annette Gardner, personal learning coach at the college, said: "The Horizons students that worked on the project all gained a real insight into the running of business.

"I am very proud of our student’s achievements. It was a very positive, enjoyable and inclusive activity."
