TWO of Worcester's most senior political figures will go head-to-head in an EU hustings bash next week - with people encouraged to pack out a school.

Worcester MP Robin Walker will have a one-on-one debate with UKIP's James Carver, a West Midlands MEP who lives in the city.

It has been organised by Rabyia Baig, aged 23, the chairwoman of Worcestershire's branch of Conservative Future.

The main theatre at Nunnery Wood High School, in Spetchley Road, will be the venue for the debate this coming Friday, June 17 from 6.30pm.

Ms Baig, who lives in Worcester and is doing an MA in politics at university in Birmingham, said: "The event is open to everyone of all ages and people can come from all political parties, absolutely everyone is welcome.

"The main theatre holds 263 people and I'd be delighted if we got anywhere near that."

It is expected to last no more than one hour, with Mr Walker backing Remain while Mr Carver is speaking for Leave.

Mr Carver said: "I'm really looking forward to it, and we both hope there's a good turnout."
