THE Bishop of Worcester has made a last-ditch appeal for Worcestershire voters to back Remain - taking part in a lively Q&A in Malvern.

The Right Rev Dr John Inge joined West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin, former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith and Malvern Green Party chair Jackie Smethurst at Malvern Cube on Wednesday night.

Around 100 people attended to get their questions answered, with the polls still neck-and-neck.

Mrs Baldwin said: "The West Worcestershire economy is stronger and we will have more tax revenues to spend on our public services if we vote to Remain."

Bishop John added: "The vote on whether or not to remain in the EU is arguably the most significant decision of our generation.

"The decision is significant not only for this country but for the rest of Europe and the world."

Mrs Smith said: "I was pleased to put party differences aside to join Harriett Baldwin in making the case to stay in the EU.

"There was a wide ranging debate, but as a former Home Secretary, I was keen to emphasise that we are safer and more able to deal with global challenges such as climate change, migration and terrorism alongside our EU partners.

"Both our national and international security depends on our membership of the EU."
