CITIZENS of Worcester are being called on to help shape the city’s future.

The city council has launched the Future Worcester campaign, asking people to start thinking about what they would like their home city to be like in 2040.

The campaign is an opportunity for people to influence the way Worcester develops over the next 30 years.

They are being invited to take part in discussion sessions 1covering life, work, play, shopping, tourism and investment in Worcester.

They can use a council resource pack to run their own sessions and then submit their findings to the council, which will use them to form a long-term strategy.

Council managing director Duncan Sharkey said: “This is the first time Worcester City Council has done anything like this. It’s not a formal consultation, but a way for us to talk face to face with people who live, work, study, shop, spend leisure time or invest in this city.

“We need to find out about their dreams and ambitions for Worcester, so that we can plan for a future that matches their aspirations.

“We are striving all the time to make Worcester a better place in the here and now – but we need to lay plans today if we are to achieve an even better Worcester in the future.”

Anyone interested in holding a discussion should e-mail their name, address and a contact number to futureworcester @worcester.gov.uk or call 01905 722057 and leave their details.
