The mother of murdered Gabby Grady said she now has the chance to "move forward" following today's verdict.

At Birmingham Crown Court today Christopher Grady was found guilty of murdering Gabby and the attempted murder of her brother Ryan, after driving his car into the River Avon, at Evesham, last February.

Grandy's ex-partner, Kim Smith, the mother of Gabby and Ryan, said: “First and foremost I would like say a big thank you to everybody involved in the case and those who have helped with achieving this conviction and justice for my beautiful daughter Gabby and, of course, Ryan.

“Although Christopher Grady is facing a deserved jail term this does not take away the fact that myself and my family were robbed of our Gabby just over one year ago and that we are still living with the loss and devastation caused by his actions on that day.

“What must also not be forgotten is what my son Ryan also went though on that day, not only the trauma of the events but that he also lost his sister who was also his best friend. I am extremely proud of him, as I am my other two children, for their strength, despite their young ages.

“Maybe now, after today’s verdict, we have the chance to move forward knowing that Grady is paying for what he has done.”
