I said goodbye to my mum and dad as I left the Birmingham station. I stumbled on to the train, my hands ached from the weight of the suitcases. As I walked past a compartment a boy whispered.
"Look at that boy, he's never gonna get picked." I knew he was talking about me but I didn't get into a fight, the boy was well-muscled and could easily knock me out, so I continued to walk what seemed to me a never-ending passage.
Finally the train stopped but I couldn't move, my legs were like jelly. Slowly I got out of the train.
An hour later I lined up in the hall. People got picked one by one and suddenly the truth dawned on me. There were only 3 people left, me, a boy who had a rough, hard face and a girl who looked like she had been crying a lot...
