Sir - Page 9 of the City Council's propaganda magazine, City Life, headed City 'Council Budget, What's in it for you' serves as a perfect illustration of what to expect from the current political leadership.
One can only assume that the array of words in different colours fonts and orientation describes the chaos and confusion at Guildhall. No doubt the consultants came up with this at great cost but as for what's in the budget for us: -
Discontinue 30 min parking
Discontinue the £1 flat rate charge between 7pm and 9pm.
Croft Road car park changed from long stay to medium stay
Charges for lorries and coached using Croft Road will be increased
All long stay parking charges to be increased
New charges for garden waste services
Increased crematorium charges
Well, it seems the City Council really has learned how to discourage shoppers from spending time in the city and the open for business sentiment was short lived?
Perhaps, they should have increased the parking charges before squandering a fortune on the electronic parking availability signs as these will soon become redundant if shoppers choose other more motor friendly town and city centres.
