Whilst welcoming the new updated Fore Gate Street station I am concerned that ,despite the Travel Centre being included in this expensive makeover, for some weeks now the Travel Centre has been closed.

So on Tuesday I was delighted to find a notice had appeared stating that due to "staff initiative" the Travel Centre would be open for a few hours on each of the next 3 days.

Not the complete passenger focused help anticipated when the Centre was revamped!

My experience of using the Travel Centre is that many people use the high quality expertise of the Centre staff to plan and book the quickest and cheapest journey from Worcester to various parts of the UK and back.

These reduced hours coupled with only one window of the ticket office being open leads one to feel that it reflects the desire of London Midland to reduce customer service by eliminating face to face passenger help.

It is noticeable that this contrasts with the level of customer service expected within the new franchises recently awarded in London and the South and does not provide the customer focussed service we should expect from the City Stations and does not auger well for the new Worcestershire Parkway Station announced recently.

Surely this lack of customer service should be taken up with London Midland by the County Council and Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership
