Sir - GB Dipper's letter of 14.7.'14 shows him, conclusively, to be a man who is not to be taken seriously. Not only does he have a massive chip on his shoulder, but he demonstrates a pathological inability to differentiate between fact and opinion (or comment): only one of these was memorably and authoritatively described as "free", while the other - facts - was decribed as "sacred".

49% of me feels that this exchange is just not worth it; that Mr. Dipper is simply beyond the pail and competely incapable of rational discourse, so what's the use? However, 51% of me takes the view that he must not be allowed to get away with his airing of potentially dangerous beliefs based on pure fantasy.

The nub of the problem can be understood from just one of many examples which give the lie to Mr. Dipper's really strange claims. He wrote a letter, published on 30.5.'14, in alleged response to mine of, it seems, 9.4.'14, which, against the background of his intensive pre-Christmas scare-mongering, asked a question about how many Romanians and Bulgarians had actually migrated here. In it, he stated - without citing any basis for his claim - that "in the first three months of the year it was 50,000". I responded by quoting an official source which showed that numbers here had actually dropped during this period! Note that Mr. Dipper did not reply to this and never refers to it, but now simply hurls inconsistent, unfounded and generalised personal abuse. The facts just don't fit his outpourings. Is he, perchance, a little miffed at being found out?

Perhaps somebody will shortly take pity, and inform me that Mr. Dipper is a comedian and that it's all been a huge wind-up.
