Sir - Yesterday, I decided that shouting at yet another B.B.C. news report of a disproportionate Israeli bombardment and killing of innocent Palestinian civilians was not an adequate response on my part, and that I would join the peaceful protest outside Worcester Guildhall and the march to B.B.C. Hereford and Worcester in Hylton Road.

Reminded the previous afternoon, during my grandson`s Whittington School performance of "Mary Poppins", that the spirit of the suffragettes should be revived and, with such a spirit, I should get up and be counted, and I would show my solidarity for justice for the Palestinians.

Around 200 people had gathered outside the Guildhall, and we were able to pass our message on to Robin Walker and Joy Squires that the time has come for action from our politicians to force meaningful negotiations to take place immediately to bring about lasting peace in the Middle East, and that the British Government allowing arms to be sent to Israel is not acceptable.

The loss of 200 Palestinian lives is equal to the loss of 200 Dutch lives in the dreadful plane crash, or the loss of 200 lives anywhere else in the world`s war zones.

So, fellow Brits, get off your backsides, give up your diet of beer and "Eastenders", stop your bleating about too many immigrants, and show our politicians that if they merit our votes next year in the General Election, they must be seen to be doing something about injustice not only to the disadvantaged in this country, but also to those in Europe, in Gaza and across the world.
