Sir - Given the summer weather, I have changed my evening dog walk route and now walk through the Cathedral gardens, along the riverside and past St. Andrew's Gardens.
It's lovely to see the Three Choirs Festival preparations underway, when our city will be the centre of so much attention. The bustling restaurants and kids playing in the riverside fountains are great fun.
St. Andrew's Gardens is an absolute disgrace. Every night this week, it looks as if several bins have been emptied across the grass. Bottles, fag packets, chocolate and ice cream wrappers, broken glass. There was a condom in the flowerbed, last evening. Heaven only knows what our summer tourists and Three Choirs visitors might think.
I hope the city council are shamefaced about the appalling state of this prime spot.
Mr Chris Winwood
