Sir - There is growing evidence that goes a considerable way in proving our unrestricted open borders policy, is damaging the safety of the general public. It's long been the opinion of many tradesmen, that Eastern Europeans are using the open borders policy which is a condition of our being members of the EU to come to this country to carry out work that should be completed according to current English law, by persons who have proven themselves to be suitably qualified and competent to perform such tasks.

These tradesmen are being supported by dedicated illegal gangs. These so-called tradesmen don't have the imposed overheads legal tradesmen have, they don't use the right materials and their standard of workmanship is way below what our regulatory authorities would except.

Should the authorities get too close, if the customer complains, these people just vanish across the borders. It's been proven time after time that rouge workers from this country have created elaborate web sites and other documents to support their crimes.

As a result of performing what is illegal gas and electrical work, these people leave families in unsafe homes, out of pocket and in many cases the home owner doesn't even know the work is actually unsafe.

Either the rules have to changed, which would mean the acceptable working standards and training given to tradesmen becomes standardised across Europe, the regulators governing electrical and gas work introduce stricter enforcement which could place a legal responsibility on the customer or our borders become more controlled.
