SIR - I do agree with Ernie Fuller (Wednesday, August 27), the yellow plum is known as the Pershore egg plum.
An extract from a song by William Vizard (FRHS).
You ask me where and whence I came
From Pershore where d'think,
Where do we grow the yellow plum
Why Pershore where d'think
Where do the trees, hang down with gold
At Pershore where d'think
As an old Pershorite myself, I am very surprised at the spelling of Tyddesley Wood, spelt with an I, instead of a Y.
Mr Fuller I thought you would have known better.
Keep up the good work, you do well for a lad of 91.
