Sir - So Alan Amos - Worcester’s murky mayor - refuses to allow the Saltire flag to fly above the Guildhall, despite the Prime Minister authorising it flown from every government building in Whitehall, and even though many other councils – of varying political persuasions – have done the same in the run-up to the Scottish independence referendum.

Now everyone knows that The Murky One lacks any political nous, as even a superficial knowledge of his career ‘highlights’ would show.

But on this particular issue I would like to pose him two questions: if he had pulled off his whacky plan to twin Worcester with Gaza, would he have flown the Palestinian flag over the Guildhall?

And when he gets adapted by the Tories to contest Battenhall - which everyone knows is going to happen - will he support the flying of the European Union flag in the run-up to his new party’s promised 2017 referendum?

Robbie Porter,
