sir - I am not a great cricket fan but have always followed the fortunes of our county side.

Last year at about this time your paper was full of letters bemoaning the state of the Worcestershire cricket team. In particular there was a great deal of criticism of Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes.

I hope now after the fantastic season the team has had the praise will be flowing for the whole set up at New Road.

Throughout the season we have had the young players scoring maiden first class centuries and taking five wicket hauls. In addition our own Moeen Ali seems to be established in the England set up.

Over the years both Steve Rhodes and David Leatherdale have given great service to the club and the legacy of academy players that Damian D'Oliveira has left behind following his sad death this year will stand us in good stead for the challenge of Division One next year.

Three cheers for Steve Rhodes and all the young team at New Road.
