Sir - It’s apparent that some of our councils leaders and a number from the planning office have recently spent a little too long at the mad hatter tea party. According to certain senior council officials there’s no benefit to be derived from building a third bridge or widening the existing bridge at St Peters. The same bunch of people, have also apparently suggested that they are limited in what can be done to resolve the daily traffic congestion problems around Shrub Hill and Newtown road.

As it currently stands, any one wishing to travel over either of the existing bridges faces delays.

The council has such a short sighted approach to reality, they actually really think by building another 5000 homes to the south f the city, with potentially another 5000 extra vehicles using those bottle necks , that no one will actually notice.

Not satisfied by this apparent madness they then compound their errors by planning to build a major shopping centre right next to the hospital, attracting vehicles and shoppers from as far away as Birmingham and Gloucester, Right next to a hospital that is about to get even more visitors needing to park their cars, when parking is already at a premium.

I’m reasonable sure the sick and dying will totally understand the situation as they endure those inevitable delays at either end of Newtown road. I’m sure the excitement of not knowing if they will actually get to the A&E department will add spice to their lives.
