SIR – it has been just over two months since the public meeting took place regarding changes to the road layout at Whittington Roundabout where Jon Fraser from Highways stated in front of around 30 attendees that changes would be made to this accident blackspot in a matter of “weeks not months”.

The last response I had from Mr Fraser was an email saying that changes had been approved and he would let me know what those changes would be and when they would be carried out.

Despite responding and asking him via email since then, I have had no reply.

I understand that these things take time but I hope Highways if you are reading this you can at least give us an update of what the proposed changes are and when they will be implemented, although the majority of people at the public meeting and myself had one very simple and cost effective solution - cone off the offending slip road and put the roundabout back to how it was before with a view to opening it again when all the work and changes have been completed.

The current layout apparently saves just a few minutes of travel time, and I know I am not alone when I say I would rather arrive at my destination a few minutes later safe and alive than risk being involved in an accident there.
