Sir, I have experienced local Conservative 'Del Boy' political actions regarding the disabled being thrown off their parking in St Swithun Street in favor of the taxis, and, without consultation, the stoppingof subsidy towards the one hot meal per day for the most vulnerable in sheltered housing.

It resulted in the service ending, and was supported by the Conservative-led county council, with comments like these vulnerable people who could not prepare their own meals could pop to a pub, garden centre, or café.

Regarding the discontinuing of Meals on Wheels, we now see current statements from the county council cabinet member responsible, saying that each vulnerable person will be contacted.

They continue their slash & burn policies on older people's services together with astronomically raising prices 65%+ for day care facilities, thereby for many making them unaffordable. Their rush to become commissioners only and privatise all the services previously provided by the councilC, without the means to monitor these services, is breathtaking.

However, all this is nothing less than the Face of Conservatism, which is emerging more and more.

So it is no surprise that Conservative Minister for Welfare Reform Lord Freud is suggesting the disabled are not worth the full wage, but perhaps a couple of pounds.

He is keeping good company with Minister Iain Duncan Smith, who is about to decimate the social housing industry by pressing ahead with destabilising schemes over the payment of housing benefits, which will cause huge financial problems for housing associations and throw thousands onto the streets.

Again, the True Face Of Conservatism.
