Sir, -

Godfrey Harvey (letters, 13 October 204) suggests that the new eight-lane pool to be built at Perdiswell will have a consistent depth of 1.8 metres (just under 6ft) from end to end.

That is not the case. We will be building a 25-metre pool to meet both the Amateur Swimming Association and Sport England’s requirements for a county-standard pool able to host regional competitions.

But with a shallow end of 1 metre (just over 3ft) it will also offer all the facilities needed by Worcester’s learners, families and casual swimmers.

Additionally, this exciting new development will include a larger learner pool than the existing Sansome Walk one, equipped with a movable floor to allow its depth to be adjusted. That means it can be used by both children on their first lesson and competitive swimmers warming up for a tournament.

I’m confident that our new pool will be enjoyed by swimmers across Worcester and beyond, of every ability.
