SIR - Will someone please explain why there is all the fuss surrounding the building of a new football stadium for Worcester City FC?

Are the City Council seeking a traffic impact study to back up a decision to turn the scheme down - because of the opposition put forward by the Not on my Doorstep Group from Perdiswell.

I fail to see what major impact the increased amount of traffic is going to create - since there is a ready made car park on the now defunct park and ride site in Droitwich Road.

Surely anybody with any sense will realise that supporters should be able to park there and walk to the new ground (or travel from the car park by a shuttle bus service run by the club), thus alleviating some of the traffic increase. In any event all we are talking about is a few hundred supporters attending matches during winter months roughly two or three times a month.

Are those opposing the proposals going to object to the new swimming pool project also? If so, it only goes to show how negative and selfish Worcester people are.

The city has a thriving first class cricket club, rugby club and basketball team and it should have a successful football club as well.

Why can't we see the same amount of support and determination shown to the proposals put forward by the Supporters Trust and Football Club?
