Sirs -The farce of our elected P.C.C. Bill Longmore refusing to answer legitimate questions from members of our county council-also elected by us- takes us back to the farce of his original election, and the open cronyism of appointing his mate Barrie Sheldon as deputy. At the time rightly causing disbelief.

But in addition to cronyism, it perhaps is becoming more apparent by the day that Mr Longmore is not fit enough to do the job. Either physically, or morally.

It makes you wonder whether Mr Sheldon's appointment was made by Bill Longmore, because he knew he was't really up to the job. So why stand in the first place then? And why stay in post if he isn't up to it?

What seems increasingly clear is that Barrie Sheldon is effectively the PCC, because Mr Longmore isn't up to it. If he ever was.

What should happen therefore, is that this farce should end with Bill Longmore doing the right thing and resigning from a job he isn't really doing, and Mr Sheldon standing for election. That would be honest at least.

And Bill Longmore should also level with us, and say if he was ever well enough to do the job, and whether Mr Sheldon's sppointment was always really to cover his back.

This situation continues to stink.
