Sir - Perdiswell is back open for discussion again. It is underused and requires a constructive document of the council's intentions for it.

Only by being transparent will any project be accepted by the public.

It firstly requires to address the transport concerns and parking. At present the existing car parks are used by people using the sports centre and golf course, dog walkers, those taking a leisurely healthy walk and families using the safe children's play area.

The present car parking is free and sufficient spaces must be provided to cater for not just the present users but also the additional ones should a swimming pool and football stadium come to fruition. Perdiswell cannot just be for the benefit of sport but the citizens of Worcester in general.

If a football stadium is built, is the land going to be leasehold and the council receive even a peppercorn rent? Who is going to run the club? The existing board of directors, they have made considerable financial strides to stabilise the club, or Worcester City Football Football Supporters' Trust? Clubs at their level do not have a very good track record of financial stability, look no further than Hereford and Kidderminster.

The swimming pool, can we afford an elite pool or an amenity? Yes, one is required, Sansome Walk has served its purpose and is now outdated.

Is the golf course a viable venture?

Your recent comments column stated that Perdiswell should not be a political football. That is quite correct. With the council's record of failing to get value for money for projects, surely it is time for a working party, free of politicians and council officers, to be put in place to make this worthwhile project work. At least it would be a citizens' project.
