SIR,

I read with interest the comments made by “angry customer” [WN 1/12/2014] about the parking problems on the Tybridge Street Retail Park on Sunday 30th November.

I too, was caught up in the mayhem but didn’t let it deter me from visiting the excellent Victorian Fayre in the centre of Worcester. I simply turned round, drove to St John’s, parked my car and walked into town, past all the fuming motorists who were trying to get into the aforesaid car park.

“Angry Customer” slams organisers for having the temerity to organise two major events in the city on the same weekend. The Victorian Fayre has been running on this particular weekend for a number of years, whereas the Taekwondo tournament at the Arena in Hylton Road is obviously a new event. That apart, the disgruntled customers who were unable to access Homebase because the car park was full must surely steer their complaints towards the planners who failed to provide car parking for competitors and spectators at the Arena – a national venue which is bound to attract large numbers of people.

Whilst in correspondence, may I congratulate Mrs Helen Mole and her organising team from the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce for breaking all attendance records at this year’s Fayre. A total of 265 packed coaches from all over the country descended upon the City to help boost the local economy by millions of pounds.

Yours sincerely

Roger King
