SIR - While it is good news that changes will finally be made to Whittington Roundabout hopefully in the next week or so weather permitting, I still believe that the best and safest course of action is to close the slip road at the roundabout with immediate effect. The proposed changes by Highways such as painting the slip road yellow are merely sticking plasters funded by the taxpayer that will not resolve the main problem – that the slip road is dangerous and the layout as it currently stands is not fit for purpose. However, at least some changes are being made as to leave the roundabout in its current state is not just an accident waiting to happen, it is a death waiting to happen. Whether or not these changes make a difference remains to be seen.
The facebook page www.facebook.com/whittingtonroundaboutcampaign will remain active and monitored, please keep posting details of any accidents or near misses even after the changes have been implemented. You can also still email whittintonroundabout@gmail.com with these details or concerns about the roundabout.
