Sir - I am saddened and appalled by the letter from my friend, Dr.David Tibbutt.

I would like to remind him that the N.H.S. was set up by a Labour Government, in the face of tremendous opposition from the medical profession, and which has provided the public service which is still, for the moment, the envy of the world.

Under an elected (the present Coalition Government was not elected by the country ),Conservative Government, the N.H.S. will be further privatised, become a two-tier service, one for the rich, one for the poor, and be vulnerable to T.T.I.P. litigation, if enacted.

As Dr. Tibbutt was employed by the N.H.S., I find it very disappointing that he should be an active member of the Conservative party, which is promoting such disastrous reforms, not to mention the destruction of all the public services which are essential to a civilised society in the seventh richest country in the world.
