Sir - The promise of cutting journey times to key locations, including London, which is again repeated in the case for this new station is misleading.
If your journey starts nearer your destination, of course it will be quicker but for people already on the train, their journey will take longer.
Taking The Cotswold Line as an example, anybody boarding between Hereford and Worcester Shrub Hill heading for Paddington would have their journey time increased by at least five minutes.
It's not just the time stopped in the new station that has to be taken into account but also the extra time taken to slow down and restart from the station.
Also this line is currently single track through the proposed new station which would mean fewer trains would be able to use the section between Norton Junction and Evesham, unless stops at Pershore ceased.
Trains on the Bristol - Birmingham line currently pass this location at high speed and inserting this extra stop would probably have even greater effect on line capacity for both passenger and freight trains.
