Sir - Thank you for the extended coverage of Elgar in today's issue. I cannot recall so much space in his honour since his 150th birthday in 2007?
However, I must take issue with two errors in particular, in the article on his will.
Firstly, there are at least two recordings of Elgar's voice - one on film (1931), at the opening of Abbey Road Studios, and the other on record, from a rehearsal of his Second Symphony, with the LSO in 1927.
Secondly, Elgar corresponded warmly with Delius following his visit to the latter's home in 1933. This does not suggest that the conversation they had was in any way "stilted", as suggested by your correspondent.
He was certainly a " troubled soul", but he is not alone in that respect!
