Sir - So we now hear of more development in and around the Cathedral City of Worcester. Developers Carillon want to develop more of St Martins Gate Quarter to include the bed shop.

They have still not leased out two of there biggest units coupled with that the footfall across the city walls road is horrendous and the traffic on that roundabout is sometimes static.

Then we have the Cathedral Plaza development adding more retail outlets in an overcrowded city. We have only just heard that there were more shop closures in Worcester than new ones opening.

We have this proposal of this new walkway across the Severn, how much more sensible would the money be spent on widening the Carrington Bridge.

The City Council must be held responsible for the allowing of the City's expansion program, green fields being turned into massive housing estates and roads which will not be able to cope with the extra traffic this will bring. N Taylor in his letter in Friday's paper is correct in his observations. We are only building these extra houses because there are to many people in this country a population near to France or Germany but a lot less space. German population Approx. 80 million size in Square miles 137,847. France population 66 million size in square miles 211,208.

England not including Wales or Scotland Population 56 million size in square miles 56.000. the figures speak for themselves.
