Sir - Last week we learned that Worcester's Labour parliamentary candidate, Joy Squires, accepted a £1000 donation from former PM Tony Blair.

I remember the Labour party attacking their opponents over their 'millionaire' donors a few months ago: pots calling kettles black, it seems.

Anyway, this week, after a swift cheque cashing, the money was put to good use; a Labour party wrap-around sleeve advert for the Berrow's Worcester Journal.

The main colour theme of the wrap-around was red. Or was it pink....? Whichever your choice of hue, the colour was apt indeed, given that the Blair donations were termed 'blood money' by many.

More so when we remember the hilarious pink bus, that stopped off in our City amid bemusement last month.

In a bid to portray Worcester as a 'battleground', the wrap-around even showed us a graph of the various parties' vote share to whet our appetites. However, the graph was five years out of date, from 2010.

Hilariously, it even had the Lib Dems on 19%. I wonder why the recent Ashcroft poll was not used? Maybe because it showed Labour trailing by six points. Maybe because it showed UKIP a strong third, having made inroads in areas Labour deserted years ago. Who knows.

Whist writing this letter, I have remembered why I lost support for the Labour party all those years ago. Blood Money? Ignoring current polls? Pink buses? Labour has forgotten why it was formed.

Mr O. Cleary

Worcester.
