Sir:

The West Worcestershire candidate, Mrs Harriet Baldwin was campaigning in Upton . I note from an article in the Worcester News that she makes several claims about her successes in the area. For example in fixing the roof as she describes it, she was closely involved in the bid to secure funds for Hanley Castle High School and alongside this success Pershore High School, the Chantry and The Chase will all get funding for building improvement works as will Suckley, Great Malvern and St.Mathias Primary School. The Chancellor announced in his budget that the fund to help churches fix their roofs is to be tripled; all this is proof for her of the "importance of fixing the roof whilst the sun shines".

She says that jobs and growth continued in March; the number of people out of work fell again. In fact since 2010 the level of local employment has risen by over 7,000, a record high. She met with another successful local company -Display Data - which plans to take on extra staff and was glad to talk to them about their plans for growth and to encourage them to take on local people and apprenticeships.

She says that it is "great news" that the new Oncology Unit is up and running and was pleased to celebrate this with the NHS management by planting a black pear tree in the memorial garden. She says that she has long pressed for this important resource so it is pleasing to see this work come to fruition.

She concludes by asking me if I have registered to vote and wishes me a Happy Easter.

I read with interest that she has been pleased to accept a donation of £2,000 for her campaign from a personal friend, Lord Fink. Great news for her although perhaps less so for him who had the misfortune in February to have to threaten to sue Ed Miilband after he used parliamentary privilege to condemn the "tax avoidance activities" of the noble lord. It seems that for him the sun did not deign to shine exactly whence he wanted.
