SIR - As a player/organiser of a football team (OVCC) in the 70s and 80s, many games were played at Perdiswell where there used to be several pitches, some of which have since made way for a golf course.

Several sports facilities are already available on this site, so I would have thought it is a common sense solution that Worcester City FC should be based there, as there are few residential properties likely to be affected by the potential noise and traffic for three hours a fortnight.

The expansion of the sports centre with the proposed new swimming pool will presumable require more car parking space, so as there is a ready made car park available (the ex Park and Ride site), which is not currently being used (so was that a waste of tax payers money in a supposed attempt to reduce traffic in the city centre, when the old vinegar works development encouraged more traffic to visit the city centre!)

I understand that some councillors seem to think the park and ride site should become a household waste depot - why? when there is already on at Bilford Road.

Over recent years I have begun to despair at some of the decision making in our council offices, and by government, which is typical of politicians who seem to be able to look only at short term solutions, when planning services and facilities for our local environment require a long term view.

If I was younger and an aspiring politician, I would think a Common Sense party might do quite well, as several of my peers (now mostly retired, but still working casually part-time) seem to have a similar view of life to mine.

Unfortunately since the 80s it seems the successive Uk government officials have been unwilling to stem the residential property price escalations; to reduce the increasing chasm between rich and poor; to stop the rich using tax havens, thus avoiding UK taxes; to prevent drunks; druggies; foreigners mis-using the NHS etc. I wonder if that might be because they and their associates are the people who are most able to take advantage of these things?
