Sir - With the General Election approaching and the promises from all and sundry to control energy prices I felt readers may be interested to hear of a letter we have today (16th April) received from our electricity supplier informing us that back dated as from the 1st. April 2015 the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) will be charging an increase of 2.6% onto our existing tariff to “support the generation of electricity from renewable sources”.
The letter states “This is a subsidy raised by the government” to be passed onto electricity consumers via their suppliers. So here we have yet another stealth tax imposed on business by our less than generous with the truth politicians.
Can we trust them ? You would get better odds on the lottery.
