SIR - So why aren't the Conservatives streaking ahead in what they claim is revitalised Britain with millions of new jobs apparently created during the dark era of austerity and with the IMFs endorsement for its policies?

Isn't that electoral magic dust and the recipe for a landslide victory. The truth is that the statistics are not according with experience. If the millions of freshly employed were prospering you bet they would say they are voting Tory!

Look at the letter signed by a measly 5000 small business owners. Not exactly an impressive endorsement when you consider that there are hundreds of thousands of such enterprises in the country.

Ever eager to attract the working class vote and suggest a dynamic economy George Osborne is rarely seen out of a hard hat on some building site or industrial setting and he and David Cameron sing acapella from the same Lynton Crosby book of 2015 Conservative hymns. Anyone would think they really had brought salvation rather than gloom. The trouble for them is less than half of the country really believe it.
