SIR - Today election day for a new government what a joke!

I am absolutely disgusted with all the candidates of all political persuasions not one I repeat, not one has been anywhere near the Astwood Farm Estate to canvas for our support.

Oh yes we had the junk mail almost every day, which I binned straight away which was mostly full of empty promises.

As a disabled person no one came to offer me a lift to the polling station during the day, as has happened in previous years, and I had to wait for a member of my family to take me there after his working day.

When we got there there were no policemen on duty as in previous years, and everyone were quite happy to wait in turn except that there were children there who did not realist that I and three or four other disabled persons had difficulty in getting in and out of the polling station, no assistance being offered by anyone.

I have heard that St Johns had the same treatment, no visible canvassers.

I hope that the city councillors and MP elected will remember that not everyone is as agile as they are and that they give more consideration to those who are not, in future elections.
