SIR – Worcester Warriors are intent on staying in the Premiership then I hope that their playing staff are more organised than the rest of the club; I have been trying to buy a season ticket for next season and the process has been like pulling teeth. A timeline:
May 27, c. 10pm: Warriors win promotion May 27, c 10.01pm: The time season tickets would have gone on sale for 2015/16 at a well-run club.
May 28: The ticket office informs me season ticket details will be published on the website ‘in due course’.
Early June: I am told that details will be released on June 17.
June 17: June 17 turns in June 24.
June 24: June 24 turns into July 1.
July 1: Season tickets (in theory) go on sale, 5 weeks after promotion.
July 1, 9am: The website doesn’t work, so everyone has to phone the ticket office. They have 2 (two) members of staff.
July 1, 5pm: Having left a message that morning, the ticket office phone me back. They are charming but I am unable to buy a ticket as I want to use the ‘Refer a Friend and Family’ offer. I am able to reserve two seats for a week.
July 3: I leave another message which is to date unreturned.
July 6: Another message, still unreturned.
July 7: Yet another message, still unreturned. The week has expired and I am no closer to owning a season ticket.
Shambles doesn’t do it justice. Do they not want anyone to watch them next season??

Help is available for struggling families
SIR – We should like to make your readers aware of the help that is available to vulnerable or disadvantaged families in your area who are living in crisis. For more than 60 years we have been helping children and young people in need.
Our Small Grants Programme is designed to help ensure that children who are experiencing very difficult circumstances where their safety, health or development is at risk, still have their basic material needs met.
This means we can provide fast relief from a critical situation by providing basic items “ usually up to the value of £300’ – such as a bed, fridge, or cooker to give them a hot meal.
An internal mapping exercise has identified your community as one which could make more use of our funding. It could be a family which is experiencing abuse, neglect, domestic violence, homelessness or is affected by drug and alcohol dependency – and where the situation has become acute.
With a further £12 billion of welfare cuts expected in the forthcoming Budget, this help may be needed more than ever. More information can be found on the Buttle UK website buttleuk.org or through local authority or voluntary sector organisations.

Don’t the council want to attract tourists?
SIR – As a frequent traveller I am disturbed by the council’s withdrawal of support for National Coach services from CrownGate.
The coach to Digbeth, which no longer runs, connected with services all over the country, making it easy to travel to and from Worcester.
Coaches now leave Warndon Sixways, and there is no direct bus service from town. A taxi from St John’s area costs over £15 each way, a considerable addition to the cost of a journey.Incidentally, Worcester metered taxis are among the most expensive in the country. Of course, councillors do not need coaches, and it seems we have no need to attract tourists.

Power to the people – festival was real hit
NOW that the dust has settled over Power Park, on behalf of St Peter’s Parish Council I would like to thank everyone who came along to our festival on June 28.  Although the day started with light drizzle, by the afternoon it was dry, the sun came out, and so did our visitors.  If you were there we would like to hear from you.  Please send your comments to brenda@stpetersworcs.org.uk so we can make next year even better.

No need for Sundays to be sacrosanct
SIR – As a white, English, working class, Church of England Christian (now 78), I have no problem with people shopping on Sundays.
Most English churches have services seven days a week.
I personally quietly pray alone each day in my flat.
I am at peace with the world, thanks be to God.

Big developers always get their way
SIR – Planners turn down marque in green belt but allow hundreds of houses at Yew Tree hill.
Suppose hotel is to small to worry planners but they ALWAYs give way to large developers. Surprise, surprise!

Spraying powder can cause problems
SIR – Spraying Colour Run participants with powder pain in seems mad.
Getting the powder into a person’s respiratory system (nose, sinuses, lungs) can surely cause lasting harm.
