YOU have recently published a photograph of an artist’s impression of the proposed football stadium at Perdiswell, taken half a mile away up the canal path, several times over.
I beseech you now to publish the photo, which appeared on Page 3 of your edition dated March 24, and which gives a far more realistic view of the site on which the football club are seeking permission to build, just as many times.
Perhaps the good people of Worcester then will have a clearer idea just what the implications of imposing a football stadium on to this site really are.

Tories taking us for fools
EXACTLY how stupid do the local Conservatives think voters are?
Leader of the council Cllr Marc Bayliss says that there are alternative sites to Perdiswell for a football stadium to be built, but he won’t say where.
Why is that?
Because there are no alternatives, his party will ultimately back Perdiswell but can’t afford to say so right now.
Think about it. They know that Alan Amos’s seat is a lost cause.
The people of Warndon will return a Labour councillor as they always do.
Therefore to ensure they keep hold of their controlling majority, the Tories need to win a different seat off another party and the St Stephens ward is clearly their top target.
All they think they need to do is make some anti-stadium noises in the run up to the election to try and wrestle the seat currently held by the Green Party’s Neil Laurenson (who by the way also objects to the stadium at Perdiswell and always has).
The Tory leadership are simply trying to kick the issue into the long grass until after the elections.
Once they have secured control of the council for one more year, their tune on a football stadium at Perdiswell will change, mark my words.
The voters in St Stephens are being taken for fools by the Tories I am afraid and it looks like they are going to fall for it hook, line and sinker.

City let down by the council
EVERY town has a football team and a council that supports it. Worcester are shamefully the odd one out, they don’t give a damn what happens to our beloved Worcester City
In fact they are guilty of trying to kill the club when they make out they care.
What a load of bunkum. They should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
They are a disgrace to the city of Worcester and the people deserve better than the load of rubbish that runs it.
When the city folds up, which isn’t far away, then I hope they are all satisfied for what they have done.
If they were serious in wanting the side to play again in Worcester they would have done something ages ago.
They have had plenty of time and done nothing whatsoever.
Goodbye Worcester City – rest in peace and thank you for the
memories.

EU ‘facts’ are misleading
I HAVE just received one of those scaremongering and misleading leaflets from those wanting to keep Britain subjugated under the yoke of the EU experiment.
The leaflet lists six of what it calls ‘facts’, which is misleading itself, so I thought it might be helpful to address two or three of them.
Under the heading ‘Good for young people’, it talks about giving them the freedom to live, travel, study, and work abroad, adding that British universities get nearly £1 billion a year in EU funding to help students.
The actual facts are that young people and others could always study and work abroad, before Britain was subjugated, and simply had to apply for the relevant visas.
The EU Commission further claim the EU is ‘Good for women’, allegedly protecting anti-discrimination and equal pay laws.
So after coming out of the anti-democratic  and expensive EU club, the British government would suddenly start allowing women to be paid less than men?
This is going from misleading to ludicrous!
The final misleading claim I would like to address is that the EU is ‘Good for workers’.
It is not good for millions of workers on minimum wage, who are  now compelled to compete even for relatively menial British jobs with eastern Europeans, among others.
Britain has the fifth strongest  economy in the world, and a host of nations wanting to trade freely with her, and like any strong, democratic nation, she wants control of her own borders, and the right to trade wherever she will.
Is that not the kind of freedom better men than me fought, built, and sacrificed for?
