SIR – I am writing about the article in this paper recently, ‘Highway firm ripping us off’ in which Cllr Richard Udall is looking into, and I can only say I wholeheartedly agree with Cllr Udall that yes, we are being ripped off.
My husband and I wanted our kerb dropped, we got in touch with Ringway and were shocked when we were sent a quotation of £1,964.32! Good £1,636.93, VAT £327.39 and if we paid by credit card the total was £2,003.60!
Scandalous, just to have a kerb dropped.
Of course we could not afford this as my husband is not working due to illness, but I do work and no way could we afford these prices.
Added to this we have a single yellow line in our road due to the high level of students in our area and we can’t park on the roadside between 11am-3.30pm on weekdays.
Our neighbour three doors from us has had a similar problem with the pathway outside their home after it was badly patched up by the workmen.
Strangely, the top part of our road, the pathways, were resurfaced recently. What about the rest of our road?
I would be interested to know if anyone in Worcester has had similar problems and hope Cllr Udall continues to highlight this rip-off.
