SIR – As a former member of the Malvern Hills Conservators indeed serving as its chairman for one year I was initially in favour of the total ban on the flying of drones over MHC land.
However, I was taken with the response of Symon Wyndham (Worcester News, August 9). It took me back to the time when hang gliders became popular. Then there were calls for a total ban on hang gliding. But what happened was that the Conservators entered into a dialogue with the hang gliders and an agreement was reached was reached as to which part of the hills they could use. The result is that for many years the hang gliding fraternity successfully coexisted with other users of the hills.
With hindsight I suggest that this course of action should be taken with the drone flyers.
