SIR – I NOTE that you reported our local MP Nigel Huddleston, as commenting that he objected to the use of the word “cuts” when receiving a petition about our Clinical Commissioning Group’s survey about which health services could be cut. He prefers to refer to them as “efficiencies”.

This government advocates transparency and practises the complete opposite. Health Minister Jeremy Hunt is currently working on a “Sustainability and Transformation Plan” for the NHS. The substance of this plan appears to be shrouded in secrecy – although a leak in one area seemed to indicate the axing of 500 hospital beds, ambulance service cuts and greater involvement of the private sector.

I am sure that the electorate would appreciate more details on the development of this plan and less Westminster language about what is happening to our NHS and other public services. If a service I was receiving stopped I would consider it to be cut, not efficiently removed.
