sir – Just a few observations and queries about the Perdiswell stadium/'sporting hub'.
Firstly the traffic is a big concern and has been for years and is getting worse year on year.
The 60,000 visitors on the open day at the pool were spread between 6am and 10pm, not all in a three-hour burst mid-afternoon.
As the football club only has £500,000 in the kitty, will it be able to buy the land and build a stadium? I think not! So are we to assume the city council/ratepayers are expected to hand over a large chunk of land free of charge?
If the council do get suckered into this plan, will the club be paying a commercial rent and rates or are we to see a peppercorn rent contribution subsidised by the ratepayer?
So the club will not be in use 330 days of the year? Therefore no midweek games, no training sessions, no fundraising concerts and fun days, and no local club cup finals?
If the plans include a social club will this only be open on matchdays?
Perhaps we may have some truthful answers to the above.
As a PS will the local residents be subject to an over-enthusiastic PA system with a running commentary and a fanfare every few minutes?
