SIR – I see they are going ahead with this Norton Parkway railway station.

At what cost? Each time the idea is mooted the cost spirals upwards to an exorbitant amount. What are the other buildings shown in the picture in the Worcester News (January 31). They are not all station buildings. Also it looks as though it is going to be one platform.

When I was employed at Worcester Shrub Hill, from Bromsgrove to Droitwich Spa, it was double track, trains from Manchester, Newcastle and Leeds called at Shrub Hill on the way to Bristol, Plymouth and in the reverse direction. With the acceleration of these modern trains, they could call at Shrub Hill, it would only add a few minutes on to the journey time.

Would the railway people deduct the parking fees from the cost people have to pay for their journeys and if people have to take a taxi to that station are they going to be reimbursed the taxi fare? I don’t think so.

GARY TAYLOR,

Malvern
