Ground-sharing is just not possible, Mr Guy

SIR - I write in response to Andrew Guy's letter (October 10) calling for WCFC and WRFC to consider ground-sharing.

Mr Guy may reject the primacy of tenure argument, but the football league and importantly the Guiness Premiership don't!

The Guinness Premiership specifically changed its rules regarding ground- sharing a few years ago in order to protect its clubs and guarantee sponsorship rights.

It's quite simple, if WRFC were relegated (and this has been a very real concern of late) then without primacy of tenure they would not be allowed back into the premiership.

If WCFC did not have primacy of tenure, then they would not be promoted into the football league should they win the Blue Square Premier.

It's a non-starter Mr Guy, and no amount of discussions between the two chairmen will make any difference.

I have noticed, however, that your placement for a future WCFC ground has changed somewhat, as at the time of the last public inquiry you were suggesting that Tolladine Goods Yard be the most suitable location.

I stand to be corrected but I do not recall Mr Guy's objections to the proposed 50-acre development at Sixways, nor do I recall his objection to the relocation of the cattle market.

I can't recollect his objections to the office blocks or hospice near County Hall, and the expansion of Warndon Villages appears to have never attracted his attention.

But whenever the football ground is mentioned he quickly puts pen to paper.

JEREMY PITT, Worcester.
