SIR – I have written in defence of new consumer regulations on so-called clairvoyants, which should make it harder for fraudsters to rip-off vulnerable people.
I was first told by one Mrs Roberts that Jesus was a medium, and maybe an alien! (June 9).
And John Shearon (June 26) says: “Bob, it is wrong to criticise anyone’s belief.”
I’m sorry, Mr Shearon, but your response is barely more cogent than the claim that Jesus of Nazareth came from outer space.
Criticising what other people think or even what they believe is the cornerstone of dialogue, let alone free speech.
Nevertheless, I am at liberty to say that in my humble opinion, spiritualist rituals are not real, just as I am at liberty to say that wine doesn’t really turn into Jesus’s blood.
Of course, that’s just my own belief, and no one should criticise it, according to Mr Shearon.
