Thanks for making golden day perfect

SIR – I wonder if you would be kind enough to allow us the opportunity to thank all of our friends and relations so very much for all the kindness and support they have shown us in celebration of our golden wedding.
Thanks to our daughters, Wendy and Trudy, we had a wonderful party on Saturday evening with all of our family and friends at the Naval Social Club.
I’m sure people will appreciate that at our time of life, we didn’t want gifts but asked that if anybody wanted to make a small contribution to the occasion, we would accept donations to charity.
Imagine our surprise that due to everybody’s generosity, we have managed to raise a grand total of £500, which has been given to the Macmillan Unit at Evesham Community Hospital. I’m sure everybody will agree that it has gone to a worthy cause.
