We should look at our councillors' pay

SIR – Looking at councillors’ pay makes a clear case that we in Worcestershire are more than over-governed.
There should be a onetier county council and then we should get rid of the rest, by which I mean Worcester City Council, Malvern District Council and Wychavon.
As for their pay I would give them the same increase as the pensioners receive and then they would really know how hard things are.
There’s been nothing said about their expenses and allowances. Get rid of two thirds of the councillors.
This would save about at least £600,000 a year. The ones that are left should have their pay allowance audited and published.
