Nightmare trip down memory lane

SIR – Reading the letter from Jon Burgess was something of a nightmare trip down memory lane (January 22).

With his usual amorphous mass of non-information Mr Burgess claims the case against hunting is fragile. On what grounds? The vital ingredient truth to which he refers is clear and remains the same – hunting and killing with a pack dogs easily fulfils our accepted definition of cruelty. It’s why 75 per cent of people think foxhunting should remain an illegal activity.

The poll he refers to asked a simple question: “Do you think foxhunting should or should not be made legal again?” That Jon Burgess doesn’t like the answer is, as they say, tough, but it doesn’t change the result.

Maurice Brett,
Bromsgrove.

I rather enjoy fox hunting and am not included in any percentage. No one asked me. My friends rather enjoy foxhunting too. No one asked them. I Know that my friends friends and their friends rather enjoy foxhunting and guess what -No one asked them. The point is, there are aa lot of us that want to go fox hunting. Maurice Brett doesn't want to go, so don't. But don't ruin it for the rest of us.
