Why have other hunts stopped?

SIR – Jon Burgess and I appear to have got into a kind of conversation about his love of killing small animals for pleasure.

I do wish, though, that he wouldn’t use my comments to make his case seem more plausible.

The fact that the hunting fraternity is probably still breaking the law out of sight of the authorities does not mean the law should be changed, but the huntsmen should be honourable enough to obey it rather than going against the majority of public opinion.

I would still like to know why deer hunting and hare coursing, together with bear baiting, dog fighting, badger baiting and bull baiting (which was how the Bull Ring in St John’s got its name) have all been stopped, but still fox hunting continues.

B JONES,

Worcester.

Apart from Bull Baiting, I think you will find that all these so-called sports still continue, Mr.Jones!

It's just knowing where to look to see them! A closely guarded secret, most of the time.

Badger sets are regularly openly being dug out on the A44 at Spetchley, in full view of the road - what they do with the poor animals when caught, I have no idea, but I suspect it is either for racing or fighting.

Try the Black Country area, for a real taste of "Olde Englande"!

The M5 is a very handy and quick link with our rural area.
