SIR – I see some ministers want fox hunting to be re-instated.

If they think like this they shouldn’t be in the House of Commons, they should accept the will of the people, and the majority think fox hunting is cruel and should stay banned forever.

There’s no real reason to kill foxes as a lot of the foxes live in towns. You wouldn’t see people on horseback chasing through a town. It’s just not acceptable.

We have heard all the rubbish about keeping foxes down.

It’s just not true because the foxes are still around in the summer and I can’t see the landowner or farmer allowing people on horseback riding through their crops.

So, let’s settle it once and for all. Fox hunting is a cruel sport and it’s only cruel people who want to take part in it.

JOHN SHEARON,

Worcester.
