Stop grovelling – they’re dishonest

SIR – Because of my ‘Time marches on’ situation, I often refer to my Blackie’s Standard Dictionary for enlightenment or verification. After reading Stanley Parr’s letter on June 24, I checked the definition of the word ‘honesty’. May I quote: “State of quality of being honest, integrity, candour, truth.”

The recent revelation in a national newspaper revealed that Sir Michael Spicer’s expenses were as follows – apart from a massive mortgage claim for the a property on his estate – chandelier £400, servicing an oven £100, a nine-month period for gardening £5,650, hedge cutting – four-and-a-half hours work for £609, claim for council tax £4,000. That on top of his £42,000 salary.

Stop grovelling, Mr Parr, and accept the fact that Sir Michael and 95 per cent of his fellow MP’s are down right dishonest.

John Evans,
Kempsey.
